At a campaign event in New Hampshire, some horrible parent was using her 9 year old child as a prop to try to make Rick Perry look bad. First she wanted him to ask Perry how old the earth is. Perry said something to the affect of “I have no idea. It’s pretty old. I don’t think anybody knows exactly how long it’s been around.” Correct answer.
She then pretends her son is asking him about evolution, and Perry responds that evolution is “a theory that’s out there, and it’s got some gaps in it.”
Luckily, the raging moderate, Jon Huntsman, took to twitter to let everyone know how amazingly moderate he is:
Now, even if you strongly, strongly disagree with Perry, his answer indicates that he’s given thought to the issue. He sees flaws in the theory (and it would be pretty ignorant to claim there are no flaws in various aspects of the theory). Right or wrong, he’s used critical thinking and formed an opinion.
On the other hand, Huntsman brags about how he blindly believes whatever scientists say (because the scientific consensus has never been wrong). His response shows that he hasn’t given it any thought, he hasn’t used critical thinking, he’s let what the media says scientists say about global warming and evolution be his opinion. And he’s trying to imply that Perry is the ignorant one.
Jon Huntsman is a weirdo and I do not like him.
